Curb and gutter jobs we take on in Greenville and the Upstate
Parking lots
Curb and gutter along the edge of a lot, the drive aisles and the islands, poured with the lot or as its own run. The gutter carries rain off the lot to the inlets, so it is set to the grades on the site plan. Pads and full lots are on our commercial concrete page, and our guide to what to check before pouring a commercial slab or parking pad in Greenville County covers the planning side.
Industrial sites
Curb along truck routes, loading areas and the edges of plant and warehouse paving. Heavier floors and pads are on our industrial concrete page.
DOT and city streets
Curb that sits in a public right-of-way needs the road owner’s permission before work starts: SCDOT on state-maintained roads, the city or county on its own streets. How the SCDOT permit works is further down this page.
Subdivision streets
Curb and gutter along new subdivision streets, poured to the profile and grades on the engineer’s approved plan sheets. Send the sheet numbers with your request and we price it off them.
This page covers commercial and site curb. For walks and paths at home, see concrete sidewalks and walkways in Greenville.
What goes into a commercial curb and gutter job in Greenville?
South Carolina’s Contractor’s Licensing Board puts driveways, parking lots, sidewalks, curbs and similar work under its “Concrete Paving” subclassification (S.C. Code § 40-11-410(2)(b)), and a general contractor bidding a commercial job over $10,000 has to file a financial statement with the Board.
On a parking lot, the curb and the lot cure on the same clock. Guidance summarized from ACI 330R, the design and construction standard for parking lots, calls for at least 3 days before car traffic and 7 days before anything heavier, when temperatures stay above about 61°F, with more time needed in cooler weather. Where a lot has accessible parking, those spaces and their aisles can’t slope more than 1:48 in any direction, so we check that grade on the forms before the pour (ADA.gov, accessible parking guidance).

Curb along a state road: what SCDOT asks for first
SCDOT describes its encroachment permit as permission to perform work within SCDOT-maintained rights-of-way. There is no fee for the permit or for SCDOT’s online permit system, and applications now go through EPPS Next. SCDOT strongly encourages a preliminary meeting with county or district staff before you apply, and says it speeds the process up (scdot.org, Encroachment Permits, read 2026-10-26).
The application carries a sketch of the roadway. SCDOT’s permit guide lists what it shows: pavement and shoulder width, the sidewalk and curb and gutter location, drainage structures, the right-of-way width and where the work sits relative to the road (SCDOT SCIIP Permit Help Guide v1.0). Where a new walk meets the street at a curb ramp, the ramp run has to hold a cross slope of 2 percent or less under U.S. Department of Justice ADA guidance.
On city and county streets the permit comes from the government that owns the road, not SCDOT. Send us the plan set and the permit number if you have one, and we price the curb to it.
