Concrete work we pour across the Upstate: driveways, garage and building slabs, stamped and decorative concrete, commercial concrete, industrial concrete, patios, and retaining walls.
We strip the topsoil, bring the sub-grade to the right height, and compact a stone base in lifts. On Upstate clay this step matters more than anywhere, because clay that was never compacted keeps settling under the slab.
Forms go in dead level. We reinforce with wire mesh or rebar depending on the load, add a vapor barrier where the slab is enclosed, and set the thickness to the use. A slab taking a vehicle or equipment gets a thicker pour and a thicker edge than a patio or a floor.
We place a mix specced for the load, finish it to the surface you want, and cut control joints so the slab cracks along a clean line instead of across the middle. Then we let it cure before it takes any real load.
These three get mixed up on the phone all the time, and pouring the wrong one wastes money.

We set a pad’s thickness at the free estimate, from the load it carries. An AC or small-shed pad gets wire mesh over a compacted base; a hot tub, generator, or playset pad gets rebar, a thickened edge, and a level surround; a dumpster or equipment pad gets a rebar grid and an engineered base. It cures before it takes traffic: the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association puts curing at typically 3 to 7 days (more in our FAQ).
What we ask before pouring a pad, so a rough idea is enough to get started:
What sits on it. The make and footprint of the AC unit, generator, or spa. That tells us how big the pad has to be and how thick to pour it for the load.
Where it goes. How our truck reaches the spot and which way the ground falls, so we can slope the pad to send water off it and away from the house or building.
What runs underneath. Any lines, conduit, or utilities near the spot, so nothing gets poured over that should stay reachable later.

A building slab from forms to finish: perimeter set, reinforcement placed, concrete placed and screeded, then floated and finished flat. Every slab is priced on site, and the estimate is free.
It depends on what the slab carries: a slab that has to take a vehicle, a lift, or heavy equipment gets a thicker pour and a thicker edge than a patio or shed floor. We set the thickness at the estimate for the load, once we know the use and the soil, so you are not paying for concrete you do not need or living with a slab that is too thin.
We do the whole job in-house. That means grading, hauling in and compacting the stone base, setting forms, placing reinforcement, pouring, and finishing. Base prep is where most failed slabs go wrong, so we do not leave it to someone else.
Upstate red clay swells when it is wet and shrinks when it dries, and that movement is what cracks slabs poured on a poor base. We control it with a properly compacted stone base, the right reinforcement, and control joints cut where cracks want to form, so the slab moves in the joints instead of across the surface.
Foot traffic comes first; for a vehicle or heavy equipment we ask you to wait until the concrete has cured enough to carry the load, and how long that takes depends on the mix and the weather. We give you the timeline for your pour when it is scheduled.

Table R402.2 of the 2021 International Residential Code sets minimum 28-day compressive strengths for porches, carport slabs, steps and garage floor slabs at 2,500 to 3,500 psi, depending on how exposed to weather the site is. Which weathering level applies here is set by the jurisdiction's Table R301.2. These are code minimums, not a recommended mix.
Yes. A spa or hot tub pad carries a lot of concentrated weight once it is full, so we pour it thicker than a standard patio slab and reinforce it to take the load without cracking. We set it level and slope the surround so water runs off.
We do. Dumpster enclosures, loading pads, and equipment bases take heavy, repeated loads, so they get a thicker pour, a rebar grid, and a proper base. That is commercial work for us alongside our commercial concrete service.
It depends on what sits on it. A pad carrying a hot tub, a generator, or equipment gets a thicker pour and reinforcement than a light-duty pad for a shed or an AC unit, and the thickness is set at the estimate for the load.
